Worton Park Culvert

Project Update: February 14th, 2025

The Village continues to work with the Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District on plans for Phase II of this project, which includes replacement of three additional undersized culverts on Norman Lane, Woodlane Drive and South Woodlane Drive.

As previously advised, this second phase of the project includes purchasing two residential properties on Woodlane Drive to expand the flood plain and to facilitate reconfiguration of the stream to allow it to flow more naturally, causing less erosion during large storm events. Efforts to purchase the properties took some time, but have been successful—the home at 1003 Woodlane has been razed and the home at 1006 Woodlane will come down in the next several weeks.

The Sewer District has covered the costs of acquisition and demolition and has hired stormwater engineers to assist with the design of the new flood plain areas and stream relocation. The design work is expected to be complete by mid-summer. The stream relocation will require a stormwater permit from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and application for this permit will be made as soon as possible.

At this time, we anticipate that the project will be advertised for bids in late Fall 2025. We will continue to keep you updated on the progress of this project and thank you for your patience.
