Public Hearing: Charter Amendments

Notice is hereby given pursuant to Section 12, Public Notice and Hearing on Certain Ordinances of the Charter of Mayfield Village and the provisions contained therein, that Mayfield Village Council will hold a public hearing on Monday, August 18, 2025 at 7:00 p.m. at the Mayfield Village Civic Center located at 6622 Wilson Mills Road.  The purpose of the hearing is to discuss the following amendments to the Mayfield Village Charter which have been proposed by the Charter Review Commission and are being considered by Council for submission to the Board of Elections in anticipation of the November election.  Please note that the ballot language is subject to revision prior to the November 4, 2025 General Election.

SHALL MAYFIELD VILLAGE CHARTER ARTICLE III, SECTION 7 BE AMENDED TO PERMIT VILLAGE COUNCIL TO MEET VIRTUALLY SUBJECT TO RULES IMPLEMENTED BY LEGISLATIVE ACTION OF COUNCIL AND ONLY IN LIMITED CIRCUMSTANCES?

SHALL MAYFIELD VILLAGE CHARTER ARTICLE III, SECTION 12 BE AMENDED TO UPDATE THE PUBLIC NOTICE AND HEARING PROVISIONS FOR CERTAIN ORDINANCES TO REQUIRE NOTICE ON THE MUNICIPALITY’S PREFERRED DIGITAL PLATFORM(S) AS WELL AS IN A NEWSPAPER OF GENERAL CIRCULATION?

SHALL MAYFIELD VILLAGE CHARTER ARTICLE V, SECTION 6(B)(3) BE AMENDED TO CLARIFY WHICH ADMINISTRATIVE POSITIONS ARE INCLUDED IN THE CLASSIFIED SERVICE AND UNCLASSIFIED SERVICE AND SUBJECT TO CIVIL SERVICE?

SHALL MAYFIELD VILLAGE CHARTER ARTICLE V, SECTION 12(A) AND ARTICLE III, SECTION 10 AND 12 BE AMENDED TO REMOVE THE ABILITY OF THE BOARD OF ZONING APPEALS TO GRANT USE VARIANCES IN NON-RESIDENTIAL DISTRICTS?

SHALL MAYFIELD VILLAGE CHARTER ARTICLE V, SECTION 6(A), 11(A) AND 12(B) BE AMENDED TO REMOVE ALL REFERENCES TO JANUARY 1, 1975 AND REPLACE THEM WITH “THE EFFECTIVE DATE OF THIS CHARTER”?

SHALL MAYFIELD VILLAGE CHARTER ARTICLE VII, SECTION 3 BE AMENDED TO REMOVE THE REQUIREMENT FOR A PETITIONER’S COMMITTEE FOR NOMINATING AND OTHER PETITIONS?
