Activities/Programs

The Senior Services Department offers several ongoing activities which seniors are welcome to attend. Non-resident seniors are also welcome to participate.  Most activities are held at the Mayfield Village Community Room, 6621 Wilson Mills Road.  On holidays offices are closed; no activities are scheduled.  For additional details or to register, contact the Senior Services Department at 440-919-2332.

Cards

Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.at the Mayfield Village Community Room. Drop in at 1:00 p.m. any Tuesday or Thursday to play cards. Come solo or bring a friend. We currently play bridge, pinochle, and hand & foot while making new friends and enjoying refreshments. There is an admission fee of $1.00.

Mah Jong

Mondays from 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. at the Mayfield Village Community Room. Please arrive at 1:00 p.m. to team up with old or new friends. If you have a set, bring it with you. Light refreshments are served. This is a free activity; non-residents are welcome.

Tai Chi Workout for Fitness and Balance for Ages 50+

Stop into the Mayfield Village Community Room at 1 p.m. any Wednesday to observe and/or participate with the group that has been meeting for over two years. Learn simple techniques that will improve your balance and give you new strength and vitality. Six-week sessions run concurrently. Contact us for the date of the next session. The charge for the 6-week session is $30. Drop-in classes are available at $8 per class.

Watercolor Classes for Seniors & Adults

No drawing skills necessary! You may uncover a hidden talent as you learn a variety of tips and techniques from award-winning watercolor instructor Flo Smith. At the end of each 4-week series, you will have created three watercolor paintings suitable for framing. Class sizes are limited, so register early. Sessions are offered on Tuesdays or Thursdays.  (Thursdays are recommended for beginners.) Material list available upon enrollment.  Registration for the September, October, and November classes begins August 18 for Mayfield School District Residents and August 19 for all others. you have a special project you need assistance with, or want to learn a new stitch. Jan has been knitting and crocheting since she was 7 years old. Six-week sessions will be held August 15-September 19 and October 3-November 14, 2014. Classes are held from 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. in the Mayfield Village Community Room.  The cost is $48/6-week session. Contact us for more information, or to register.

Bereavement Support Group

Elizabeth of Crossroads Hospice helps persons work through the grief process connected with losses through death, job loss, divorce, moves, and other life-changing challenges. Sessions are ten weeks. Sessions are held from 5:45-6:45 p.m. on Mondays at the Mayfield Village Community Room. There is no charge. Participants must make a commitment to attend sessions and complete assignments. Foot Clinic

Dr. Kelly R. Whaley, Diabetic and Geriatric Specialist practicing for 15 years in Northeast Ohio, offers routine foot care such as toenail cutting, treatment of corns and calluses, and removing ingrown toenails. The cost is $20. (Medicare generally covers the cost for diabetics.) Foot clinics are held one Friday per month at the Mayfield Village Community Room from 1:00-3:00 p.m. Contact us for the date of the next clinic and to make an appointment.

Lunch n’ Movie
at Mayfield Village Civic Center

In collaboration with the Community Partnership on Aging, Mayfield Village is hosting Lunch n’ Movies at the Civic Center one Wednesday a month. The meal will be prepared and served in Civic Hall. The recently-released feature film will be shown in Reserve Hall. Lunch is served at 12:15; doors open at 11:45 a.m. Movie begins at 1:00 p.m. The cost is $5.00 per person, payable at the door. Registration is required by calling the Community Partnership on Aging at 216-650-4029, no later than the Wednesday prior to each luncheon date.
