A RESOLUTION THANKING
MAYFIELD VILLAGE FIRE CHIEF DAVID R. MOHR FOR OVER THIRTY-THREE YEARS
OF DEDICATION AND SERVICE AND CONGRATULATING HIM ON HIS RETIREMENT
WHEREAS, David R. Mohr began his career as a firefighter in 1977 in Willoughby Hills and was hired by the Mayfield Village Fire Department on April 16, 1979. Less than 10 years later, on June 15, 1987, he was promoted to Chief of the Mayfield Village Fire Department; andH
WHEREAS, In his 33 years of service to Mayfield Village, Chief Mohr developed the Fire Department, into the professional organization it is today, leaving an indelible mark. Chief Mohr has been responsible for much of the expansion and delivery of emergency medical service coupled with upgrading the skills, training and materiel of the Fire Department. He has promoted collaborative work with paramedics, hazmat response, technical rescue, interoperable communications and Homeland Security. In addition to his regular duties, Chief Mohr was instrumental in the design and construction of the new Fire Station, dedicated on July 6, 1996; and
WHEREAS, Chief Mohr was a founding member of the Cuyahoga County Fire Chief’s Association, serving as its President from 2002-2007. He also served on the Cuyahoga Emergency Advisory Board (CEM) from 1987-1995, was an active member of the Communications Committee from 2002-2012, and on August 4, 1995, achieved the rank of Executive Fire Officer with the National Fire Academy; and
WHEREAS, Chief Mohr is a member of the Statewide Interoperability Executive Committee where his focus has been upon Cuyahoga County: He was a driving force of Cuyahoga County’s partnership with the State of Ohio Multi-Agency Radio Communications System (MARCS) that has achieved state-of-the-art interoperability throughout the County; and
WHEREAS, Chief David Mohr and his wife, Mary have been happily married for 26 years and have three children, Jason, Kate, and Jill, and one loving granddaughter, Maddie. On December 31, 2012, Chief Mohr officially retired from the Mayfield Village Fire Department, pledging to spend more quality time with his family at their home in Marblehead where he loves to go boating and fishing; and
WHEREAS, Chief Mohr’s extensive knowledge and proven experience will be greatly missed by his friends and colleagues.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF MAYFIELD VILLAGE, OHIO, THAT:
Chief David R. Mohr be and is hereby recognized for over thirty-three (33) years of dedicated and exceptional service to Mayfield Village.
SECTION 1. The Village of Mayfield, its Mayor, Council, residents, employers, employees and officials wish to thank David Mohr for his many years of dedicated service and congratulate him on his retirement.
SECTION 2. The Council finds and determines that all formal actions of the Council relating to the adoption of this Resolution have been taken at open meetings of this Council; and that deliberations of this Council and of its committees, resulting in such formal action, took place in meetings open to the public in compliance with all statutory requirements including the requirements of Section 121.22 of the Ohio Revised Code.
SECTION 3. The Clerk of Council is hereby authorized and directed to prepare duplicate original copies of this Resolution. One such original shall be presented to Chief David Mohr. The other original shall be placed in the permanent records of the Village as a lasting tribute to Chief David Mohr.
SECTION 4. This resolution shall become effective upon its adoption by Council and the signature of the Mayor, or as may otherwise be provided by law.
