MINUTES OF THE ORGANIZATIONAL MEETING OF COUNCIL

Village Civic Hall
Monday, January 13, 2014 - 7:00 p.m.

The Council of Mayfield Village met in Special Session for their Organizational Meeting on Monday, January 13, 2014 at Mayfield Village Civic Hall.  Mayor Rinker called the meeting to order at 7:05 p.m.

ROLL CALL:

Present: Mr. Buckholtz (7:20), Mr. Jerome, Mr. Marrie, Mr. Marquardt, Mrs. Mills, Dr. Parker, and Mr. Delguyd

Also Present: Mayor Rinker, Mr. Wynne, Mr. Diemert, Chief Edelman, Chief Carcioppolo, Mr. Metzung, Mr. Thomas, Mr. Dinardo, Ms. Wolgamuth, and Mrs. Betsa

Absent: Mr. Cappello, Mr. Esborn and Mr. Marrelli

The Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag was given.

Administration of Oath of Office to Lillian “Patsy” Mills, Ward 2 Council

Mayor Rinker administered the oath of office to Lillian “Patsy” Mills, Ward 2 Council representative.

Administration of Oath of Office to Thomas J. Marrie, Council-At-Large

Mayor Rinker administered the oath of office to Thomas Marrie, Council-At-Large representative.

Administration of Oath of Office to Stephen Jerome, Council-At-Large

Mayor Rinker administered the oath of office to Stephen Jerome, Council-At-Large representative.

OPEN PORTION:

3-minute limit imposed by Chair. Those who wish to speak must first state their name and address. 

There were no comments.

Mayor Rinker stated, there are students in the audience today who are present for school government projects. The students introduced themselves and were welcome by Council.

Councilman Buckholtz arrived at the meeting at 7:20 p.m.

Administration of Oath of Office to William Buckholtz, Ward 4 Council

Mayor Rinker administered the oath of office to William Buckholtz, Ward 4 Council representative.

Election of Council President

Mayor Rinker opened the floor for nominations for Council President.

Mr. Marquardt, seconded by Dr. Parker, nominated Bill Buckholtz for Council President.

Mayor Rinker asked if there were any other nominations. There were none. Nominations were closed.

ROLL CALL:         

AYES: All 
NAYS: None

Nominations Carried. William Buckholtz Elected As Council President.

Mayor Rinker administered the oath of office to William Buckholtz as Council President.

Election of Council President Pro Tem

Council President Buckholtz opened the floor for nominations for Council President Pro Tem.

Dr. Parker, seconded by Council President Buckholtz, nominated William Marquardt as Council President Pro Tem.

Council President Buckholtz asked if there were any other nominations.

Mr. Delguyd, seconded by Mr. Jerome, nominated Tom Marrie as Council President Pro Tem.

Council President Buckholtz asked, how do we vote?

Mr. Diemert replied, Roll Call and have each individual say a name. 

Council President Buckholtz asked, are there any other nominations? There were none. Nominations were closed.

ROLL CALL:

Buckholtz (for Marquardt), Delguyd (for Marrie), Jerome (for Marrie), Marquardt (for Marquardt), Marrie (for Marrie), Mills (for Marrie), and Parker (for Marquardt)

Nominations Carried. Thomas Marrie Elected as Council President Pro Tem.

Council President Buckholtz welcomed back aboard Thomas Marrie as Council President Pro Tem.

Mayor Rinker administered the oath of office to Thomas J. Marrie as Council President Pro Tem.

Council President Buckholtz stated, we have never really had a situation like that since I have been here, but we have our total support as in any election to the winner, Tom.  You have been Pro Tem in the past.  I am sure you will do a wonderful job.  Council will support you in that position.

ANY OTHER MATTERS:

Council President Buckholtz asked if there were any other matters.  There were no other matters before Council.

ADJOURNMENT:

Mrs. Mills, seconded by Mr. Marquardt, made a motion to adjourn.

The meeting adjourned at 7:30 p.m. The next Council meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, January 21, 2014 at 8:00 p.m.
